On most days I find it hard to believe that I am over 50 years old (except when I feel those little aches and pains). It was on a cold day in January that this kid was born. It was an awesome day. And if my mother was alive she would probably say the same thing. But what mom wouldn’t say that? Now that I’m in the 50 and Fabulous Club, I am ready to share with you top 10 things that I’ve learned about life. You can call these my Toni-ism’s and excuse me now if I curse. So here goes:
Part One
- You’re only as old as you feel. And I feel young as hell. But on January 26, 2019, I will be 53 years old! But I feel young and I believe that this is the primary reason why I look so young. Plus I just got a great health report from my doctor!
- Never lend money to friends. If you give it then you should consider it a gift, because you will never see that money back.
- Be your own best friend. You don’t need as many people in your life as you think. But you do need advisors and mentors.
- There is life after the death of your parents. When your parents die it takes you to a new level of adulthood. The cushion/rug is gone. You will never know how strong you go through the passing of your parents.
- Hurt people, hurt people. Try to stay away from emotionally hurt people. They will do nothing other than hurt you in the long run. Even if they’re your family members.
Part Two
- Most people on the internet are lying about the money they make and the leads they’ve generated. They’re telling more stories than the Young and the Restless. So, don’t believe everything that you read on the Internet. And if it is true, what they’re not telling you is how much money they spent running ads.
- Most of the “so called experts” aren’t really experts at all. But they’re smart enough to surround themselves with people who are smart and know how to do the things that they don’t. I’ve learned that you have to find your own truth through trial and error. And let your experience take you to your own level of “expert” status.
- Working for yourself is soooooooo frickin’ hard. So don’t quit your day job until you’ve surpassed your day job income or saved several years worth of your salary.
- There is nothing wrong with working for someone else, especially when you get paid a great salary and you’re doing something that you love.
- Your past really doesn’t equal your future. It’s never to late to get started on a different path in life. Most people stop right before they’re just about to achieve success. Most people are just three feet from gold. The best thing I’ve ever learned is to never give up on your hopes and dreams because you never know when you’re going to get your big break.
So there you have it, these are the top 10 things that I’ve learned about life now that I’m over 50. What are yours? Drop your thoughts in the comments section and let us know.
