Sometimes I find it hard to believe that I am successfully losing weight on this Keto diet.  It’s not really a diet.  Like I have said before this is a lifestyle journey for me.  But ever since I started the plan 3 weeks ago, I’ve lost a total of 6 pounds! Woot-Woot! Yeah Baby!  I am pumped.

I started this journey at 205.2 lbs and now I am weighing in at 199.2 lbs.  I feel better and my clothes are starting to feel loose.  My feet still hurt.  But not as much.  I feel good about my progress, even though sometimes I wish the weight was coming off faster.

What to do when you’re not losing weight on Keto…

I was talking to my girlfriend the other day and I was telling her how my weight loss has been slow but steady. She had recently posted on Facebook how she was down 9lbs in 7 days.  But my weight appears to be sticking to me like white on rice.  I told her that my weight loss seems to be stubborn.  She told me that her success was due to Intermittent Fasting.

I had been doing some Intermittent Fasting, but clearly what I was doing was nothing like her IF program.  Plus she said that was using some products to help her fast for as long as 23 hours.  Once she sends me the products, I will try them ad will share how it works for me.

My weight loss has not been fast. Some days it goes up and then other days it goes down. It has not been an easy 3 weeks. It’s been tough. Therefore, when it appears as if you’re not losing weight, you should do what I’ve done, which is to eliminate all carbs for one day and keep going.

My Keto Weight Loss Before and After Pics

While I am happy to be out of the 200 Club, I still have a long way to go.  I promised that I would post pics and here they are. They’re not before and after, they’re more like the “during” pics.  These are my week 3 photos.  It takes pure bravery to release this on the internet. But oh well. In 3 more weeks I should be down 12 lbs and there should be a noticeable difference.  These pics were taken on the iPhone 8, but they’re still not the best photos.

Changing Anything About Your Life is Hard

If there is one thing that I have discovered about life, it is that change is hard.  Moving from one home to another is not easy.  Changing jobs is hard.  Imagine how hard it is to change a body that you’ve had all your life.  I’ve had mine for over 50 years.  Yes, it’s not the same body that it was in high school.  Nor is it the same body I had in my 20’s, 30’s or 40’s. And that’s okay.

I don’t want my body to be the same as it was when I was young. I just want it to be good as I grow old.  I see so many people that are younger than I am, but look older than me.  They walk with canes and have to deal with so much pain in their bodies.  I don’t want that life for me.

I also want to be able to get off of my blood pressure medication and to never have any diabetic issues.  Plus I would like to be around for my kids and any potential grandchildren who could be on the horizon.

Losing Weight With Keto Has Been Pretty Good So Far

I must admit that this has been an interesting journey.  Frustrating at times, but for the most part it is a lifestyle change that has been worth it.  I can see myself from time-to-time having a cheat day, but I don’t know how much it would be worth it.  If I decide to do that I will definitely write about it.  But for now I am going to keep planning my meals, trying new recipes and staying on program.  Stay tuned and thanks for coming along the journey.
