Women Networking – The Lifeblood of Female Entrepreneurship

There has certainly been a rise in women networking in the past several decades – and it’s a good thing, too. In these tough economic times, business owners of both genders are being forced to adapt their practices, and the increase of women networking is likely a direct result of this.

The Small Business Boot Camp for Women 2013 was a Big Success!!!

Small Business Boot Camp-1

The Small Business Boot Camp for Women took place on Saturday, July 13, 2013 in New York City at the Doubletree Metropolitan hotel.  It was a great day for all in attendance. There were over 50 women there who received valuable and practical information that they can take home and use right away to help take their businesses to the next level.

Alexandra Chou wowed the crowd with tips on how to set up your business for financial success right from the start.   She was amazing and shared tips and secrets that business owners could use right away.

Laurie Marshall surprised many of the attendees with her information on when to seek a trademark for your business and the importance of doing so right from the start.

Then Nicole McGarrell from Constant Contact really delivered on her content of how to use email marketing and social media in your marketing strategy in order to be successful in today’s new economy.  She wowed the crowd with her level of knowledge and expertise.

Then Patty Lennon showed all attendees how they could raise money for their businesses right away using crowdfunding.  She also educated everyone on the new crowdfunding platforms that currently exists.

By this time everyone was in awe with excitement and after taking an off the cuff poll of the audience, it appeared everyone was “getting what they came for.”

This is always an important thing for me when I put together events.  I always want to ensure when people pay for an event that they get what they paid.  My motto is to under promise and over deliver.

By the time I made it to the front of the room everyone was ready and even though it was after lunch no one fell asleep.  I made sure that all of the attendees understood the role of women in the new market place and the advantage that they have over men and I also spoke about how to capitalize on that.  In my upbeat and motivational classic style, I believe that I wowed the crowd.  At least that was the feedback that I received when I left the stage.

I was happy about that, but Heather Piedmont wasn’t.  : )  She felt like I was a tough act to follow, but she amazed the women in the audience with her info on creating a content strategy for their business and how they could use that to increase the awareness of their existence and expand their reach, thereby increasing their bottom lines.  Heather did a fabulous job.

Once the event was over, everyone took to social media to express their opinions on the event.  They were all overwhelmingly positive and supportive.  I am happy about that.  But this is what happens when events are created from a place passion and heart.

Now it’s onward and upward and getting ready for 2014!  Find out about upcoming Boot Camps at www.smallbusinessbootcampforwomen.com

I’m A Vegan!

vegan

I’m Officially a Vegan!

Exactly 3 months ago I got started on this journey of becoming a Vegan.  After my husband’s birthday celebration on Feb. 18th, I went cold turkey.  I took all meat, dairy, chicken and fish out of my diet.  Bam!  It was a wrap.  I actually went 10 days straight of drinking only fresh vegetable and fruit juices that I made myself.  It was an amazing experience.   Now, it’s three months later and I feel fantastic.  I thought that doing this was going to be difficult but it’s not.  There are so many choices available for Vegans that this lifestyle has been easier to adjust to than I could have ever imagined.

People have said that being a Vegan would be expensive, but it actually is not.  It’s actually just as expensive to eat regular food today than it is to adopt a Vegan lifestyle.  The cost of meat, chicken and pork has sky-rocketed.  Before adopting this lifestyle my grocery bill had already exploded so going this route didn’t cause any major shift.  The only thing I have to deal with is getting my family to eat what I eat.  There are some things that they absolutely love like meatless meatballs with a vegan pasta and sauce.  But there are some things that they feel are just disgusting (like my raw brownies – LOL), but I still find them delicious.  So we’re working on it.  They love it when I cook vegetables.  They love my sauteed broccoli and they also love my fresh fruit juices.  But I guess, I’ll just have to get them to come around on the other things.

What I’ve Learned By Becoming Vegan

  1. You still have to watch your portions.  Just because you don’t eat meat, doesn’t mean that you can eat whatever you want in volume.  You still have to monitor your portions if you want to control your weight.
  2. More Vegetables Is Better Than More Beans and Carbs.  My body cannot handle a lot of beans.  While I LOVE beans.  When I eat too much of them it just gives me horrible gas.  So I have to be careful about that the beans and the carbs.
  3. Variety and Flavor is the SPICE of Vegan LIFE.  Just because you’re not eating the Standard American Diet (SAD) doesn’t mean you have to sacrifice flavor and variety.  OMG! The foods that I have been eating have been delightful.  One of my favorite restaurants is RAWLICIOUS and the raw foods there are amazing and good.  Another one is Veggie Castle in Queens and it has great Vegan food and desserts with awesome Caribbean flavors.  But I have to be careful when I go to Veggie Castle because the portions are big, you can pack on the pounds going there.  But flavor and spice is the key.
  4. Vegan options are everywhere.  I have been able to find something pretty much everywhere that is vegan.  I just may have to get the places to leave out the cheese to make their vegetarian selections vegan.
  5. You should take a daily vitamin supplement.  Regardless of whether you’re vegan or not, you need a good daily vitamin supplement.  Just about every food has been stripped of its nutritional value, so you have to supplement.

The Health Benefits I’ve Experienced Being Vegan

  1.  I sleep through the night.  Before I became a Vegan would toss and turn and wake up every hour on the hour.  My husband works nights and when he would come in, I would end up staying up all night.  *sigh*  Now, I sometimes don’t even hear him come in and when I get up in the middle of the night to use the bathroom, I go right back to sleep with no problem.
  2. I’m down to a size 12.  Before I started this lifestyle I wore a 14 or 16 to fit over my hips, but now, I am down to a size 12 and I feel myself shrinking down to what would be considered my natural body weight.   Now that I am starting to exercise again, I can actually see that happening faster.
  3. My skin is clearing up.  Last year this time my skin was so oily and I was plagued with cystic like acne,  you know those big juicy hard  pimples that would leave ugly black marks.  But today, that’s not the case and I am so happy about it.
  4. Here is the biggy…My periods are becoming more normal and one of my fibroids has disappeared and I can literally feel the other one shrinking.  This was the reason I decided to do this in the first place.  I wanted to heal myself.  My fibroid is the size of a small cantaloupe.  I am looking forward to going to my doctor in the fall and having it measured and her saying that it’s gone.  She already told me (last month) that one disappeared.  I knew that because when I started this path, I watch that thing leave my body.  (I’ll spare you the details).  But this is my BIG WHY.  I didn’t want to have major surgery taking out my stuff.  I am not ready for that.  I am not even 50 years old.  So I decided to take my health into my own hands to heal myself and this has been worth it.
  5. I can sleep on my belly again.  Before when I would lie on my belly it felt like a ball was between me and the bed and it was very uncomfortable.  Now I can lie on my stomach again.  Yes!  Momma is happy.

As you can see the benefits of this lifestyle has totally outweighed the small sacrifice of giving up foods that I have loved over the years.  Will I keep going?  YES. Will I ever eat chicken or fish again?  I don’t know.  Maybe if it’s organic and not injected with growth hormones.  But right now it’s not worth it.  Because in the past eating the foods that I loved was actually making me sick and today I feel so good and healthy.  I really don’t want to go back.

The biggest thing that I have learned is that in this day and age you have to find your own way.  Don’t listen to anyone.  Just listen to your heart and most importantly, listen to your body and eat to live vs living to eat.

Cedrick Harris Resigns from Visalus

Yes. You Heard It Right…Cedrick Harris Resigns from Visalus

In another bold move, Cedrick Harris (Internet Marketer and Network Marketer Extraordinaire)  leaves Visalus.  I’m sure since today is April 1, 2013 many people may have thought this was a joke.  But if you check out the video, you can clearly see that Ced is not joking.  He is clearly leaving a company that he has earned 7 figures with.

Has he lost his mind?  Has another great leader imploded?  I say, No.

Cedrick has done what many network marketers do once they reach the top or they no longer feel that the company that they’re with meets or fits within their overall long-term goals and dreams.  And most times it doesn’t have anything to do with the company, but it has everything to do with SELF.

Cedrick’s move just proves that you can make all the money in the world, but if you’re not happy on the inside then it means nothing.

Sometimes people forget that when new reps (entrepreneurs) come to network marketing companies or even jobs, 9 times out of 10 they still have other dreams and aspirations.  They still may have things that they want to achieve or accomplish.  But (sometimes selfishly) network marketing companies and jobs want you to focus all your time and attention on them (the company).  And fail to realize that true entrepreneurs aren’t company men and women.  True entrepreneurs desire and NEED freedom.

As such, why would one expect an entrepreneur to be satisfied with just one thing?  Or for an entrepreneur to be devoted to just one company?  And why would companies expect reps to promote just one thing?  This is a big mistake that companies often make without realizing that true entrepreneurs cannot be boxed in, they must be free to come and go as they please and to try new things without feeling like they’re betraying the company.

Until network marketing companies and insiders move away from such stifling attitudes and they will never see the kind of real and unlimited success that’s possible within the industry.

So I applaud Cedrick Harris for being true to himself.  He always talks that big balls talk and he puts action behind it.  He will be successful no matter what and no doubt there will be some hurt feelings, but when it’s time to make that move and go to the next level.  You just have to do it.  I wonder what’s next for him.  Maybe he will join Zrii International.  Who knows…

But this is what I do know and that is that there is nothing like entrepreneurship that allows you to be your true and authentic self ALL THE TIME!  Now that’s what I call SUCCESS!

Why I Am a Daegan Smith Super Fan!

DaeganSmith1

I Love Me Some Daegan Smith!

Daegan was actually the one of the first individuals who taught me how to generate leads online. I can remember so clearly the day that I purchased his ebook Net MLM Profits. It changed my life. You see I had learned the fundamentals of attraction marketing and the idea of a funded proposal from Mike Dillard’s Magnetic Sponsoring. But the difference between Mike’s book and Daegan’s book was the fact that Mike “told” you what to do. His ebook was all WORDS. But Daegan’s ebook “showed” you want to do. Daegan’s ebook was filled with pictures and how to’s. I loved it.

I quickly took the information included in that ebook and put it to use.  I got to work and I immediately began to generate leads for my network marketing business.  The amount of leads that I generated became an abundance of riches.  I couldn’t even handle them all.  So I started farming them out to the top leaders on my team.  And as a result of me helping them and us all working together as a team, in 2005 I quantum leaped to the top of my company’s compensation plan. That company was called Warm Spirit. I became a 3 Diamond National Vice President. I was on fire!

After that in 2006, I penned my story of how I quantum leaped to the top in my book, Quantum Leap: How to Make a Quantum Leap in Your Network Marketing Business. I also went on to create my own funded proposal, affiliate programs and more! I’ve been on a roll ever since. I discovered my passion for training and coaching and launched the Network for Women in Business.

Recently, I ran across a student of mine in Daegan’s Facebook group and she said, “Toni Coleman Brown…you inspired me to create my own product and…” I couldn’t believe that someone in Daegan’s group was giving me props.  I told her about my upcoming Small Business Boot Camp and she responded, “I am so there!”  How cool is that!

But the here is the real reason why I care and believe in Daegan so much…it is because he has integrity and he has the same core values that I have. He believes in helping people.  Daegan knows that if he helps a lot of people get what they want, that eventually he will get what he wants. He understands that it’s not about him.

So here’s what he’s doing right now.  Daegan is sharing his story in a 5 part series of emails. He’s telling every one on his list all the things he’s done wrong and eventually he will get around to sharing all the things that he’s done right.  I’ve re-posted his stories here. But once you read them you will see why I decided to join Zrii International. You see, I know the value of getting great training. And internet marketing training can help ANYONE, whether you have a home-based business or a traditional brick and mortar business with a website.

If you have a website, you need to monetize it.  Plus you need traffic.  Affiliate programs like My Lead System Pro allows you to earn and learn at the same time. But this is how I feel…anywhere you can get access to training from Daegan Smith at a low price, then that’s the place to be.  And if he supports a company or a product then, It’s worth it.  I am a true super fan.  I am humbled by what I’ve learned from Daegan over the years and believe it or not, some of the things that I’ve heard him say on webinars years ago, are just beginning to click for me.  But one time I posted something on Daegan’s page and he called me. (Yes, he took the time to reach out to me) He told me one thing that I’ll never forget…he said “Whatever you do…don’t stop.” And that one simple statement has made all the difference in my career.   Because what I’ve learned about his experience and the experience of so many others is that, you have to try and try again. You must fail forward, but if you don’t stop eventually you will reach the golden gates of success, but you will never get there if you quit.

So like Daegan often says…To the Top!

Toni
